PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Founded in 1972, SAP is the world leader in enterprise applications in terms of software and software-related service revenue. Based on market capitalization, we are the world's third largest independent software manufacturer.
As an integrated part of the development organization, our research lab in St. Gallen drives applied research while focusing on the business impact and contribution to SAP's product portfolio. The approach is based on co-innovation through collaborative research: Together with leading universities, partners, customers, and SAP product groups, we drive the development of promising ideas, concepts and prototypes into new software and business models for maximum customer value. In our locations in St. Gallen we are cooperating with the University of St. Gallen to drive research at the interface of technology and economics. In the near future our team will focus on a new way to manage intangible assets to allow for a better economic performance.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

We provide a highly motivating project environment with multiple international partners in industry and academia for applied research. The team in Switzerland will focus on new ways to manage the linkage between non-financial and financial assets. In all three areas this will include e.g. leveraging big data technologies to better measure and monitor non-financial assets in order to gain actionable insights for better decisions, and exploring / testing of cause-effect relationships as well as related time lags to improve enterprise performance.
Ultimately, the team is looking for new options to bring innovative SAP applications and services successfully to the market. The PhD candidates are expected to make crucial contributions both on the research and the transfer side.
In parallel, they will be part of a research team at the Institute of Technology Management under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Oliver Gassmann at the University of St. Gallen, one of the most renowned business schools in Europe. For the positions advertised here, the focus is on innovation capital (ability to innovate).
