PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Mission of the Industry Business Units are to run, grow, connect and transform in a digital world. The Industry Business Unit Retail (IBU) enables SAP to be a leading catalyst and operator of industry networks and is the preferred destination for people who aspire to re-imagine industries. Our role is to help retailers in the fast-moving, global marketplace to better innovate, compete, and stay relevant. This includes research on strategy, market trends, and competition. A Ph.D. thesis is part of SAP's research program on future trends and their impact on SAP's software and has the objective to complement the strategic direction of SAP's industry business units.


EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

As Ph.D. student in the Industry Business Unit Retail you're responsible for the successful implementation and measurable business impact of our strategic practice globally. In order to deliver a scalable framework for business-, trend-, and competitive analysis and consistent end-to-end programs you work in an international team and manage strategic objectives.
You are part of the digital go to market and marketing journey within our team. To implement and optimize it for predictable pipeline contribution you act as interface for product teams, sales and presales operations as well as services teams. You set up high impact events, own the creation of assets and are the single point of contact for market related questions. You come up with new perspectives how to accelerate the journey of our retail customers to run simple and help SAP to become the cloud company powered by SAP HANA.
Based on exceptional creativity combined with strong content marketing you will start to enable sales organizations to effectively approach target accounts for faster conversion and increased deal values. This includes customer lifetime engagement and demand generation throughout the customer lifecycle.
Based on current scientific challenges within Retail you collaboratively define a Ph.D. thesis in the area of retail supply chain that will create unique results helping our customers run simple. A confirmation from a Ph.D. supervisor is a prerequisite to apply.

Key tasks:

* Work closely with retail colleagues within SAP, partners and customers to build pipeline and awareness

* Work closely with Industry Marketing to build high impact assets

* Implement a framework and run effective market analysis

Scale, Enablement and Transformation (SET) is responsible for SAP's solution packaging portfolio, development and delivery, comprising SAP Best Practices and Rapid Deployment Solutions. We combine products, business process pre-configuration and service offerings into ready-to-consume solutions across SAP product lines. As a cross team within SET the Innovation Adoption & Routes-to-Market team is owning the go-to-market (GtM) responsibility for all solution packages.
