PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Founded and sponsored by SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner in 2005 the Design Services Team is part of the Technology Innovation Platform organization at SAP. We design and develop innovative solutions, processes and tools that are technically feasible, economically viable and highly desirable to end users.

DST Design Consultants work on exciting design problems centered on bringing together SAP's business strategy with emerging technologies and business models with a strong focus on the needs of the end-user. The team identifies and defines problems, conducts research, brainstorms solutions, designs and validates prototypes to create breakthrough solutions for SAP's customers and partners.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
* Apply "Design Thinking" strategically by developing insights on how technology affects the business process, the organization, and the individual user
* Work collaboratively and flexibly with team members from diverse technical, creative and business backgrounds
* Play an active role in all aspects of the design process including market analysis, identification of user needs, storyboarding, brainstorming, ideation, prototyping, and iterative end user validation
* Provide hands-on support in developing of prototypes, including functional prototypes, wireframes, mock-ups and storyboards
* Drive adoption of design driven development practices through project work, as well as workshop facilitation
* Engage internally with SAP stakeholders and externally with SAP customers and partners
* Ensure project is delivered with high-quality, on-time, and according to pre-defined business and technical specifications
* Apply design thinking as a strategic discipline, addressing SAP customer needs in next generation solutions

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
* Passion for end-user focused software applications design and development
* Appreciation and empathy for the entire software design process including strategy, engineering development, and production rollout
* Thrives in the face of ambiguity, develops opportunities where others see road blocks
* Exceptional written, visual and direct communication skills and the ability to effectively engage and convey ideas to cross-functional technical and non-technical teams
* Experience leading and managing software development or implementation projects through multiple product lifecycles, ideally from initial concept to product launch
* Proficiency with rapid prototyping tools such as Flash/Flex, PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, Visio, etc.
* Degree in one of the following preferred: product or industrial design, interaction design, communication design, human factors, computer science, business administration, multimedia, cognitive psychology, engineering
* Fluent English and German language skills
* 5-7 years professional experience in design, project management, strategy or development roles
