PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
SAP Research Centers in Zürich and St. Gallen support SAP's long-term strategy through technology research. Located to the campus of ETH Zürich and University of St. Gallen (HSG), the SAP Research Center in Zürich focuses on application-oriented research in the areas of Smart Items for Electric Mobility applied to Enterprise Service Architectures. This combines SAP's technological know-how with the expertise of ETH Zürich and the leading business school of St. Gallen.

The objective of the EU-funded research project "ELVIRE" is to develop an on-board electric energy communication & service platform for realistic use-cases around Electric Mobility including the relevant external communication and services. The ELVIRE consortium consists of 12 partners including influential vehicle manufacturers, automotive suppliers, electricity providers, e-service providers, ERP software companies and the research community. Given the fact that ELVIRE is placed at the forefront of the ICT electric vehicle development, the respective flexibility for adopting the defined, developed and tested solutions in practice is a major contribution to the E-Mobility industry.

SAP's contributions to the ELVIRE project include:* Evaluation of the business model of the defined ICT E-Mobility use cases
* Requirements engineering
* Support during design, implementation and testing of defined ICT on-board services
* Integration of ICT on-board services with SAP solutions

The objective of the EU-funded research project "GEYSERS" (Generalised Architecture for Dynamic Infrastructure Services) is to bring cloud computing to the next level by designing and implementing a novel optical network architecture able to support 'Optical Network + Any-IT' resource provisioning seamlessly and efficiently (also covering the aspect of energy efficiency). In other words, GEYSERS aims to come up with a holistic approach to cloud computing that enables service providers to provision services composed from various resources ranging from "classic" cloud resources such as computing power and storage space as well as network and application resources through an end-to-end management framework.

SAP's contributions to the GEYSERS project include:* Business scenario and requirements engineering
* Architecture and design definition and validation
* Testbed design and implementation, proof-of concept
* Internal transfer projects

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
In the context of ELVIRE and GEYSERS, we are looking for a motivated student (f/m) interested in doing an internship in a highly qualified and international environment. We provide you with the possibility to extend your practical experience and deepen your theoretical knowledge in systems development (on-board ICT E-Mobility devices, cloud computing, SLA management and SAP integration). Your contribution will support the technical integration of ELVIRE and GEYSERS with SAP solutions.

This internship will be shared equally between both projects, offering the unique opportunity to work on two bleeding-edge and future-proof research topics.

WORK EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
* Studies in the field of Computer Science or a related subject.
* Excellent knowledge in the following areas:
- Cloud computing
- Network technology and concepts
- Distributed systems
- Software engineering (Java SE, Java EE)

* Knowledge in the following domains is a plus:
- Mobile application development
- Web service standards (SOAP, XML, XSD, WS-RM, REST)
- Business process modeling (BPMN, BPEL)
- SAP applications
- Knowledge about the automotive industry
* Strong analytical skills and a proven record of getting things done.
* Good organizational skills.
* Ability to work both independently and in an international team.
* Good English language skills - written and spoken.
* Good German skills, written and spoken, are a plus, but not required.
