PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Reporting to the Head of Operations and CSR and working directly with SAP's Executive Board and Senior Leaders, the Senior Executive Speechwriter is responsible for supporting external and internal appearances (speaking opportunities, broadcasts) of SAP's senior leaders.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Writes speeches for SAP executives
* Writes and adapts speeches, scripts, and talking points for senior corporate leadership for major external-facing SAP and high-profile third-party events as well as for employee-facing internal events
* Engages with executives for initial briefings
* Iterates drafts with GC management through to final completion
* Explores internal and external resources for appropriate content and to stay up-to-date on trends and news regarding the industry, technology, SAP products and customers
* Advises Co-CEOs and other leaders on appropriate competitive engagement and playmaking within speeches
* Aligns messages with the Global Communications strategy
* Aligns tone and diction with the executive speaker
* Shares approved speech scripts and messages with constituency teams for reuse

Coordinates executive speaking opportunities
* Coordinates and drives executive engagement at events and speaking opportunities
* Coordinates evaluation and response to speaker invitations
* Pitches and secures top-tier speaking opportunities
* Works directly with Co-CEOs (in cooperation with communication leads for Co-CEOs) and other Board members to plan and execute major events
* Generates executive briefings related to speaking opportunities
* Tracks all speaking opportunities of SAP top management to provide transparency

WORK EXPERIENCE
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a senior-level speechwriter
* Minimum 10 years of involvement in the IT industry, working inside or as a supplier to major multinational companies
* Experience with working in a corporate environment
* Extensive experience of writing on corporate thought leadership topics (not only as a speechwriter but also e.g. as co-author, author of white papers and policy documents etc.)
* Proven track record (backed by references) of excellent quality of work executed in close collaboration with C level executives

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
* Bachelor's degree in literature, arts, communications or marketing
* MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field such as information technology would be a major plus
* Formal training in rhetorical techniques e.g. competitive playmaking a plus
* Experience in working in virtual international environments
* Has excellent native-level standard of spoken and written English
* Excellent spoken and written German
* Has excellent understanding of the worlds of economics, social, cultural, and business trends, and above all of the impact of IT on society
* Has excellent understanding of SAP and its competitors/peers in the IT industry
* Has excellent understanding of complex business and IT issues and challenges
* Can communicate these issues and challenges in clear and simple English and with impact
* Is able to understand, analyze and respond to the competitive environment in which SAP finds itself
* Possesses an excellent all-round education/knowledge of different cultures
* Can interact with confidence at the highest level of corporate leadership
* Has very high sensitivity to nuance and the expected/appropriate tone of voice
* Can differentiate communications tone, style, diction according to audience
* Is able to perform under high pressure
* Possesses and exercises great intercultural sensitivity
* Ability to work with senior executives
