WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Sybase is a fully owned subsidiary of SAP. Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) is Sybase's flagship enterprise relational database (RDBMS) product. SAP plans to make SAP Business Suite run on the database, Sybase ASE in the near future. With this platform, SAP is extending its database portfolio and thus strategically strengthening the platform basis for all SAP applications.

Sybase is looking to hire experienced Staff Engineer with database connectivity expertise to optimize the technology infrastructure of SAP Netweaver and all business applications to run on Sybase ASE. The engineers will be working in close cooperation with SAP platform porting team at Walldorf / St. Leon-Rot, Germany and in close collaboration with Sybase R&D units across United States and Asia Pacific regions.

Your work will give you deep insight into SAP’s technology and Sybase ASE database. Furthermore, you will gain highly valued experience in dealing with complex technology integration while working with best and the brightest of the SAP and Sybase database technologies.

YOUR PROFILE:
• You are an RDBMS/Sybase ASE expert with in-depth knowledge of the RDBMS product in the areas of RDBMS Query Processing
• You have knowledge in SQL Language standards, SQL programming skills, optimization & costing techniques and RDBMS extensions such as XML, JSQL/ADT etc.
• You are skilled in debugging and tuning the query processing for performance
• You are skilled in interfacing SAP Netweaver with SAP Sybase ASE query processing
• You are skilled and adept in interfacing various ECO systems as in development tools, query tracking and monitoring tools and techniques, JDBC/ODBC connectivity with RDBMS such as Sybase ASE
• You are skilled in using stored procedures cursors and isolation levels and knowledgeable in globalization and Unicode
• You would collaborate with Sybase R&D units and the SAP Platform team in broad range of tasks from development to test and maintenance work

OUR CORE REQUIREMENTS:
• A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of knowledge
• At least 8-9 years of software development experience
• SQL and relational database administration and management skills are essential
• RDBMS/Sybase ASE knowledge, RDBMS internals is preferable
• Two or more years experience in Unix, Windows, RDBMS, or object-oriented design & programming : C, C++ and Java is a pre-requisite • Knowledge of one of the following operating systems: Linux, Windows or any UNIX derivate
• SQL/JDBC/ODBC database programming Java, exposure to SAP Tools StorProcskills, ABAP is a plus
• Must have worked on the design and implementation of software components, ideally in a large team environment and on commercial products
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Personal commitment and the ability to work independently and goal-oriented with a proven track record
• Fluency in English is required, German is a plus
