PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
As part of Global IT, IT Infrastructure Services (IT IS) is SAP's IT-infrastructure provider and is responsible for running SAP's backend technology including operations of state of the art datacenters as well as client technology (end-user equipment) around the globe.
Within Global IT IS, the Infrastructure Management is responsible for 24x7 operations of the backend infrastructure embedded in an international delivery approach.
At Infrastructure Management the Server Management team is focusing on shared infrastructure services. Main locations of IM are Germany, the U.S. and India.

Operations are focused on the Virtualization Landscapes, Automation, Monitoring and Driving continuous improvement is one main lever to increase operation availability and efficiency. Infrastructure landscape re-architecture and new technology adoption is another important part. Global thinking and a strong customer focus are essential.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
As Technical Expert you are responsible for:
* Conceptual design, configuration and administration of server landscapes with focus on ESX and Windows Operating systems
* Drive innovation to optimize, automate and standardize the operational delivery processes
* Managing the daily operations, ensure high availability
* Strong collaboration with server management units in the Service Centers of Global IT IS
* Strong alignment and close cooperation with internal customers and partners

WORK EXPERIENCE
* Studies in communication engineering, computer science or physics
* 5+ years work experience in server administration
* 2+ years work experience as infrastructure architect
* Multiyear work experience in international teams

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Your strengths are:
* Virtualization methods (VMware, XEN)
* P2V knowledge
* Advanced technical background for Windows server operating systems
* IT Security knowledge
* Experience with different hardware vendors
* Antivirus knowledge (McAfee, Sophos)
* Experience on large, non homogeneous landscapes (> 1000 server)
* Server storage connectivity (SAN and NAS)
* Scripting (Perl, WinScripting Host,...)
* You like to work in international teams, communicating in English fluently
* You are able to work effectively in a de-central team and develop working relationships across the organization
* Skills of business administration and project management are given
