PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
SAP Language Services is responsible for translating all SAP software products and other non-coded assets into 37 languages. SLS outsources the majority of its translation work to translation partners. Internal SAP staff at SLS support this outsourcing strategy by supplying a range of technical, planning, quality, monitoring and expert linguistic services.

Some key figures about SLS are:
* SLS has more than 180 employees in more than 15 locations
* SLS translates per year more than 200 million words for Product Development, Service and Support, Marketing, ...
* SLS manages more than 100 translation agencies with approx. 2.500 named translation users
* SLS maintains a complex translation infrastructure with a Citrix-based translation portal, SDL Trados backbone, SAP translation systems, etc.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
The main tasks include:
* Manage the organization SLS
* Deliver translation on-time, in budget and with the expected quality
* Define SAP s translation strategy
* Work with stakeholders to ensure translation service delivery
* Optimize the efficiency of SAP s translation environment
* Be an active member in the Globalization Services management team
* Evolve SLS policies, guidelines, tools and metrics based on industry standards and best practices
* Evaluating new technologies to develop proposals for translation solutions
* Evaluating existing and new translation technologies
* Acting as a source of innovation for SAP s translation processes

WORK EXPERIENCE
* At least 5 years experience leading a major organization
* Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all organization levels
* Self directed and proactive with excellent initiative and demonstrated ability to create alternative approaches

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
* Good degree from an accredited university
* Fluent in English and German
* Strong negotiation and influencing skills
* Ability to communicate effectively and express ideas and plans with enthusiasm to motivate employees
* Good interpersonal skills
* Good communication skills
* Flexible and service-oriented
* Ability to work in a team
* Knowledge of standard translation
