Hi,
I would like to Learn ABAP, could you please suggest a good book for that and would like to install Mini SAP in my Notebook which consists of Windows XP professional...it is O.k if u anwer in deutsch. Ich kann auch deutsch, leider beim schreiben mach ich viele Fehler, daher lieber schreib ich auf Englisch.

a good reference: "The Official ABAP Reference Book" by Horst Keller and Joachim Jacobitz [SAP Press] (inclues a current version of mini SAP ...6.20?)
but it's imo not for that useful the fist steps...
there is a good one for starting with abap called "abab objects" by keller / krüger [SAP Press] which is available in german. probably you will find an english version too
this one helped me a lot with getting started with abap an contained an "older" version of mini sap (4.6C?).
since it is only the basis it doesn't matter which version you use because there were no major changes in the last years.
afaik all versions of mini sap are working with windows but they need the NTFS-Filesystem (Win2k and WinXP) ... an lots of RAM

the programming lanuguage's full name is 'abap objects'. btw: the previous version (without OO) was called abap/4...
therefore the book "abap objects" is not only about OO, it is more or less a practical start with abap from the very beginning.
the index (which can be found here http://www.sap-press.de/katalog/buecher ... 18JH2.XYTM in a german version) says it is about 150 pages out of 600 pages that deal directly with OO.
anybody there with other recommendations?
btw: the normal way of programming abap is probably to not use OO concepts because you don't need to.
but sometimes you will need to use single functions that are provided as a class (e.g. for the ALV - SAP list viewer)
therefore it would be good to have a general understanding how to use these classes in your report...

Yesterday I have been to the book shop, and checked out the ABAP books, well there r no CD's in these i mean Mini SAP CD's and i checked out the JAVA with WEB AS. It was also interesting.
Well I have a simple question, hope u can clarify that
Do we need to know ABAP language to Start to learn this JAVA with WEB AS ?
