PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

SAP’s line of business Customer Experience with its product C/4 HANA is redefining the paradigm of customer relationship management. We focus on the customer and his entire journey, including traditional marketing, sales, and service, as well as orchestrating online and mobile commerce and other interaction channels.
Our application SAP Subscription Billing is part of C/4 HANA Sales Cloud and focuses on subscription and billing processes for digital products. The solution is highly consumable and built on a flexible microservice-based architecture with SAP Cloud Platform as the underlying basis. We are using state-of-the-art cloud techniques, we are deploying our solution daily, and - as we follow the DevOps paradigm - we are also operating our solution by our own. The project is located in Europe as well as in China.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Our business unit is inventing in the new strategic cloud-based solution SAP C/4HANA. To fit into our team, you should be passionate about software development and understand the importance of the product quality and listen to customer needs. You will work on challenging development projects in an ambitious and highly efficient team. We apply agile methodologies in our product development.
You will take over the role of a Development Manager in Walldorf, where you are responsible for managing high performing teams concerning engineering and social aspects. As a Development Manager, you will work together with the Chief Product Owner, the Product Team, and our development teams (co-located as well as remote) and other experts in development to ensure common understanding and efficient development execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Development Manager you will focus on the following tasks:

* Working in an agile development environment which requires the individual to be self-driven, take decisions independently and be flexible in order to cater to demand

* Build high performing teams - “Get the right people on the bus in the right seats” – to achieve the product goals

* Setting clear goals with team members, inspiring and supporting them towards accomplishing these goals and evaluating goal achievement in a fair and understandable way

* Creating an environment of continuous learning and improvement. Actively seeks to coach and help with personal development. Regularly offering feedback in an effort to help others develop

* Working closely/collaborate across roles, functions and teams, as well as with colleagues in other teams and countries.

* Ensuring quality by making sure that teams comply with non-functional requirements and apply proven development practices like automated testing

* Fostering a culture of collaboration via constructive communication and encouraging consistent approaches to common issues across teams

* Translating the company’s high-level strategy to tactical initiatives for our teams

* Lead, inspire and support your cross-functional, agile team to deliver customer value

* Closely align with product owners, remote development teams and experts in development to ensure common understanding and efficient development execution. Identify and manage cross team’s dependencies

* Understand the product capabilities, underlying technologies, and the business goals of overall solution in general

* Foster the DevOps paradigm in the team and taking over also manager on duty responsibilities

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* University degree in computer science or similar educational background

* Extensive knowledge and experience with full software development life cycle, from design through implementation, testing and deployment until DevOps

* Proven experience and very good understanding of lean and agile software development methodologies

* Excellent communication skills in German and English (verbal and written), with the ability to work and contribute to a collaborative working culture

* Experience in handling impediments and continuous improvements which support the building of growth team and foster team enablement

* Agile mind-set, with attitudes of respect, collaboration, improvement and learning cycles, pride in ownership, focus on delivering value, and the ability to adapt to change

* Experience with recruitment and team building

* Team and individual coaching skills

* Good knowledge on major cloud paradigms (e.g. DevOps, CI/CD)

* Open-minded personality and strong interpersonal skills (e.g. empathy)

PREFERRED SKILLS

* Good knowledge of SAP CRM product portfolio

* Knowledge in microservice-based cloud architectures concepts


WORK EXPERIENCE

At least 8 years working experience. Experience in team leadership and people management, preferably in a software development context.
